Functional Role: Insurance Coverage Attorney - The group will not meet with anyone who does not have coverage experience.

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: Monday to Friday, normal business hours, flexible hybrid arrangement

Job Description:

A litigation boutique of 170 employees, has an opportunity for an attorney with at least five years of experience in insurance coverage/bad faith litigation defense in its Kansas City, Springfield, or St. Louis, Missouri offices. Candidates must be licensed in Missouri and Kansas, ideal candidates will also be licensed in Arkansas, have the ability to work independently on complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation cases, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be skilled in legal writing and contract and legal analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage file through litigation process independently and as a part of the case team.
• Conduct fact investigation.
• Handle document productions and other discovery tasks.
• Preparation of witnesses for deposition.
• Taking and defending depositions.
• Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions.
• Review and analyze insurance policies, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Prepare detailed insurance coverage opinions.
• Court hearing preparation and attendance.
• Trial preparation and attendance.

Billable Hours Requirement: 1,800/year

• We do have a bonus structure based on hours. We offer medical, dental, vision, firm paid life insurance, and a 401k match. Medical is subsidized by the firm and dental and vision are paid at 100% for the employee with a buyup option on dental. Our benefits offerings are comparable to others in this market.
