Job Description

International law firm is seeking to hire a Legal Practice Assistant to join their Patent Litigation group in their San Diego office. Full-time opportunity. Work schedule is M-F 8:30am-5:00pm.
 
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, edit, revise, redline, and/or proofread documents from dictation, handwritten, typed, and/or electronic copy
  • File paper and electronic documents with appropriate courts and agencies and ensure proper procedures are followed and deadlines are met.
  • Maintain the overview of timekeepers' workload and caseload
  • Coordinate preliminary conflicts checks with Professional Standards to ensure attorney and firm ability to represent requesting party
  • Assist with billing processes. Including daily time entry
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for timekeepers
  • Set up and maintain administrative and client files
  • Prepare outgoing mail
 
QUALFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Patent Litigation
  • Type a minimum of 75 WPM
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of electronic records management, court rules, and legal billing duties
  • Understanding of the legal terminology and procedures
  • Knowledge of library operations and records storage procedures for retrieving materials and files for casework
  • Notary certification is helpful
