We are a small boutique firm in Marina Del Ray and are looking for a legal secretary who is experienced with Civil litigation in both State and Federal courts. Some experience with the appellate court is a plus. They need to be able to multitask 4 attorneys, remain organized, and prioritize to get the job done.
We are 99% litigation so a strong understanding of civil litigation is a must. This includes knowing court rules, how to find them for the various CA courts and the assigned judges' specific requirements. A key understating of court requirements for dates to serve motions and replies, when responses are due, and other key dates as a result of court rulings or receipt of motions.
Proficiency in the computer programs listed below.
Document management system (we use Worldox)
Calendaring (we use Practice Master and outlook)
Adobe Acrobat (various versions) create pdf's, convert pdf's to word, convert email to pdf, use pdf forms and/or typewriter, attach e-signatures
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
We do not use Word macros, therefore a strong knowledge of Microsoft word and the ability to format documents is a must. The candidate needs to be able to create pleading shells and work with Word styles to create TOC and TOA.

Scan and copy
Print labels and envelopes
Create subpoenas and request for productions of docs
Create depo and trial binders
Schedule deposition and meetings
Schedule conference calls and Email instructions
Calendar dates and reminders to the Firm's master calendar
Print attorney calendars
Answer calls for attorneys
Circulate assigned attorney's mail
Prepare Depo summaries
Prepare Cost memo
Prepare PowerPoint presentations
Download, save, and circulate documents from websites such as Westlaw, Pacer, File&Serve and other court efiling systems
Download case dockets and tentative rulings
Close cases and prepare boxes for storage
