Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Providing administrative support to defense attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.
  2. Assisting in the preparation and filing of legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
  3. Organizing and maintaining electronic and physical files, ensuring all documents are accurately labeled and easily accessible.
  4. Coordinating communication between attorneys, clients, courts, and other parties involved in litigation.
  5. Conducting legal research and compiling relevant information for case preparation.
  6. Assisting with billing and invoicing tasks, tracking billable hours, and maintaining client billing records.
  7. Assisting with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and managing trial logistics.
  8. Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling sensitive information.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience as a legal secretary or assistant, preferably in a defense litigation setting.
  2. Proficiency in using legal software and office productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
  3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and other staff members.
  5. Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures related to civil litigation.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  7. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
  8. Familiarity with state and federal court rules and procedures.
