The Estate Planning Paralegal will assist attorneys in the preparation, drafting, and management of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related legal instruments. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of estate planning principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Document Preparation: Draft and prepare estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
* Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and address any questions or concerns.
* Research: Conduct legal research on estate planning issues and relevant laws to ensure compliance and accuracy.
* Case Management: Manage and organize case files, including maintaining accurate records, deadlines, and follow-up tasks.
* Coordination: Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to gather necessary information and ensure a cohesive estate plan.
* Filing and Record-Keeping: Prepare and file legal documents with courts or other agencies as required and maintain meticulous records of all documents and correspondence.
* Legal Support: Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing briefs or memoranda.
* Compliance: Ensure all estate planning documents and processes comply with current laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
* Certification: Paralegal certification from an accredited organization (e.g., NALA, NFPA) is preferred.
* Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on estate planning and probate matters.
* Skills: Strong knowledge of estate planning laws and procedures, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
* Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
* Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal research databases, and virtual data room software. Mycase and Soluno preferred.
