A well respected law firm in St. Louis County is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support their attorneys through all phases of the litigation process, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management

    • Organize, maintain, and update case files (physical and electronic)

    • Track deadlines, court dates, and litigation calendars

    • Assist with case strategy meetings and attorney preparation

  • Document Preparation & Review

    • Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence

    • Prepare exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders

    • Review and summarize depositions, medical records, contracts, and other case materials

  • Discovery Support

    • Manage document production, including Bates labeling and privilege review

    • Coordinate e-discovery processes with vendors and internal teams

    • Conduct factual research using legal databases and public records

Litigation Paralegal - Job Description

Overview

The Litigation Paralegal provides critical support to attorneys throughout all stages of the litigation process, including investigation, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and post-trial work. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong writing ability, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with trial experience are strongly preferred, as the position involves hands-on support during hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Maintain and organize case files, both electronic and physical

  • Track litigation deadlines, court dates, and attorney calendars

  • Assist attorneys with case strategy, preparation, and workflow coordination

Document Preparation & Review

  • Draft, edit, and format pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence

  • Prepare exhibits, witness files, deposition summaries, and trial binders

  • Review, analyze, and summarize medical records, contracts, and other case materials

Discovery Support

  • Coordinate document production, including Bates labeling and privilege review

  • Assist with e-discovery processes and vendor communication

  • Conduct factual and legal research using databases and public records

Court Filings

  • File documents in state and federal courts, including electronic filing systems

  • Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements

Trial & Hearing Support

  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibit lists, witness coordination, and logistics

  • Support attorneys in the courtroom by managing documents, exhibits, and real-time needs

  • Coordinate with experts, witnesses, and court personnel

  • Trial experience preferred, including familiarity with trial software, courtroom procedures, and on-the-ground support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of litigation experience

  • Trial experience strongly preferred

  • Proficiency with legal research tools and e-discovery platforms

  • Strong writing, proofreading, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and professionalism

  • High level of discretion and commitment to confidentiality
