Position Summary
We are seeking a well-organized, dependable Legal Secretary to support our attorneys and help manage the daily flow of work through the office. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being part of a team, can multitask effectively, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly. Overtime is very rare. This position also serves as the front desk for the office, as we do not have a dedicated receptionist.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and format legal documents including briefs, pleadings, correspondence, and attorney dictation
- Perform e-filing in state and federal courts (training provided for federal e-filing)
- Open and maintain new case files; save and organize documents in the firm's directory
- Track deadlines and ensure filings, correspondence, and tasks are completed on time
- Prepare documents such as beneficiary deeds and other estate-related materials
- Send and receive correspondence via email, fax, and regular mail
- Communicate and coordinate with agencies such as the NLRB
- Answer phones, greet visitors, and receive deliveries
- Provide general administrative support to multiple attorneys as needed
- Work on tasks as they come in, prioritizing based on urgency and team needs
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience drafting legal briefs, pleadings, and professional correspondence
- Comfort with e-filing systems and basic case management tasks
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to track and meet deadlines
- Ability to multitask and support more than one attorney at a time
- Team-oriented mindset with a flexible, "pitch-in" attitude
- Punctual, reliable, and professional
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Experience in employment and labor law (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with union-side representation
- Prior work involving pension, benefits, workers' compensation, or estate planning
Work Environment & Expectations
- Small, friendly office with an easygoing and supportive culture
- Attorneys are approachable and do not get upset over mistakes-training and teamwork are emphasized
- First work that hits the work queue is generally addressed first
- Must be able to work comfortably with all members of the team
- A flight of stairs is required to access the office

Compensation + Benefits: $50K-$55K/year, free parking. Two weeks' vacation (rolls over) and retirement plan after 3 years. Business casual dress code. Health, dental, and vision premiums paid by the firm. Holidays + 2 floating holidays.
