Job Description

A downtown law firm is seeking a temporary Intellectual Property Docketing Specialist for the IP Prosecution area. The Intellectual Property Docketing Specialist maintains accurate record-keeping in the docketing database.

 As an Intellectual Property Docketing Specialist, you will:

·         Audit, enter and update filing due dates and reminders in the docketing database

·         Receive and review incoming foreign correspondence and docket accordingly

·         Process incoming PCT correspondence

·         Maintain and clear electronic daily dockets in database

·         Review Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) electronic filing system (EFS) and Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) receipts and process updates in the docketing database

·         Prepare and distribute reports for upcoming filing deadlines

·         Verify matter statuses from the US Patent Office

·         Download patent office correspondences and distribute to docketing specialists

·         Handle routine research of rules and resolve docketing issues

·         Cross-check filing date entries from peers to confirm database accuracy

·         Provide back-up support for other offices as needed

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in computerized docket databases
• International patent knowledge required
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local Intellectual Property laws and regulations
• Knowledge of docketing software
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
